Sunday – a cool drizzly fall day – ahh yes. Simply lovely.
The perfect day to bake and play in the kitchen! I woke up, took a shower and grabbed one of many aprons hanging on the back of the kitchen door. Groceries were delivered as I started the yeast for my homemade bread.
I greeted the delivery boy with a fresh hot cookie straight out of the oven…he was wet from the rain and had such a huge smile as he bit into the chocolaty treat. Then he was off – to brave the chilly bike ride that awaited him. Here is an extra cookie for the road – Good luck out there man!
I returned to the sound of Billie Holiday singing “Embraceable You” ……“You and you alone…. bring out the Gypsy in me” …she had such a way with her voice and music.
Preparing a big dinner to make up for a tough couple of weeks for Jeff. On the menu: Homemade Dinner Rolls, Parmesan Crusted Chicken, Garlic Herb Potatoes, and Chocolate Silk Pie with fresh whipped cream. Yup, that should do it. Oh yeah – and don’t forget a nice bottle of wine…let me see...
A day of trying out some new recipes and pie crust treatments/designs and emailing back and forth with a friend about whether or not to do a full marathon in January or March. I have also been thinking about a half Iron man in the next year, so I have started reading books, signing up for swimming lessons and have started cycling as cross-training. We’ll see. No definite commitments yet.
Life is grand.
I am one fortunate woman.
Chatting on the phone with my sisters – sharing the ups and the downs…life. I am listening to different people talking around me lately and really listening – older, younger and all the points in between.
It is my time to thank the universe. Things may change ahead and some things may have been tough behind me – but no on can take away right now.
My Dad was a huge advocate for being present. I get this more than ever in this moment.
I have to go for now …to eat that chocolate silk pie!
