The Mother of All Raised & Glazed Doughnut Recipes

I am pretty sure that I have discovered the mother of all raised and glazed doughnut recipes

After trying these sugary rings of joy, I just couldn’t keep them to myself and I had to share them with you. This is the type treat that will have you shouting and singing from the rooftops...or peddling and singing through the streets on your bike.

Sommer (@mawithflavor) introduced this recipe to me and I will be forever thankful. She has a tantalizing picture on her Mama with Flavor site and once I saw these, I couldn’t resist. Just try to put this on your “list of things to make” and it will gnaw at you until you can’t stand it any longer...you will become obsessed.

There are just a few things that you need to consider prior to making these tasty little devils,

#1: They will taunt you as you wait for them to rise…
#2: They will tease your eager tasters as they cool and drip with glaze...
#3: You will need to find an outlet for your intense sugar high...
Seriously, after eating a couple of these (okay, a few),  I jumped on my bike and peddled non-stop for two hours singing Queen's Bicycle song. I think Jeff was embarrassed because he kept a pretty healthy distance from the fun, or what he might have described as "hysterics."

Anyway, make sure to serve the same day, they just aren't the same on day two. There is nothing like a warm fresh doughnut.

Thank you to @mawithflavor for the idea and inspiration and to @thepioneerwoman for this delicious recipe.

Click here to visit her site to try it out.

Enjoy and happy doughnut making!

Cupcake Heaven with Crumbs

Cupcakes!

Being a foodie and having a blog can be so much fun. In addition to eating, cooking and baking, there are incredible opportunities to celebrate and meet the most amazing people along the way. August was no exception.

I wanted to write this as a thank you to Crumbs, share some inspiration, introduce you to some new acquaintances and provide a sneak preview of some flavors that are coming out soon.

Champaign and Cupcakes - What Could Be Better?

It all started with an invitation to Crumbs Bake Shop’s NASDAQ opening bell celebration.

In Good Company
The table we sat at couldn’t have been any more perfect. There was a fabulous brunch with a wonderful group of people including@Melysa_S from Sex Lies and Bacon, @OfeliaNJ from OfeliaNJ, the owner couple from The New York Cupcake Guide and Nichelle, a founding editor from Cupcakes Take The Cake.

The owners Mia and Jason Bauer, spent time sharing some personal stories. They told us about their experiences as a start-up with a single store over eight years ago and the eight-month road trip seeking investors. Now they have gone public and are ringing the opening bell - who would have thought? It was an inspirational success story about two people who combined their talent, worked hard and followed their passions.

The Taste Test and NEW Cupcakes Preview
After brunch our table was invited to sample some cupcakes that aren’t even out in market yet. It was as if I had died and gone to cupcake heaven. Here is a sneak preview of three new flavors that will be coming out soon,
  • Cake Batter – A vanilla cupcake, with a yellow cream cheese filling, yellow cream cheese frosting, topped with chunks of rich poundcake and sprinkled with rainbow sprinkles
  • Mudslide – A chocolate cupcake, with a chocolate buttercream filling, coffee cream cheese frosting, edged in mini milk chocolate chips and topped with crushed Oreo pieces…hello satan
  • Monkey Business – A chocolate cupcake, with a peanut butter cream cheese filling, and a banana cream cheese frosting, edged in mini peanut butter chips and drizzled with melted milk chocolate...hello again
Brave fella … watch that finger… mama’s hungry

And, if that weren't enough, we were all sent home with goodie bags and "taste packs" that included 6 large cupcakes and 12 minis. A few days later the hurricane hit so I couldn't give anything away...Jeff and I were stuck in our apartment with everything (sorry, the gorging pictures have mysteriously disappeared).

Congratulations Mia and Jason for following your dreams and working so hard to get there…

And thank you for inviting me to share in your special day!

PS I don't work for Crumbs, I just love their cupcakes!
